PF didn't transfer automatically after a job change
Your records look ready but no transfer request exists. The automatic trigger didn't fire, or hasn't yet. You can start the transfer yourself.

Why it's stuck
- EPFO now transfers automatically for eligible members once the new employer's first deposit is in. Some accounts still slip through.
- Older records or edge cases (old member IDs, past corrections) can keep the automatic trigger from firing.
- Your old balance stays in the old member ID until a transfer request exists.
Do this next
- Log in to the EPFO Member Portal → Online Services → Track Claim Status. Confirm there's no transfer already in progress.
- Go to Online Services → One Member – One EPF Account (Transfer Request).
- Check your personal details and the previous member ID shown. If something is wrong, stop and fix it first (see name/DOB mismatch or date of exit).
- Select the old member ID, confirm with the Aadhaar OTP and submit. Note the tracking ID.
- Check Track Claim Status every few days. Once it settles, the passbook shows the money leaving the old member ID and arriving in the new one. Menu names on the portal shift after updates; look for the closest match.

Don't
- Don't file the same transfer twice. Check Track Claim Status first.
- Don't choose a final settlement (withdrawal) claim by mistake. You want the transfer request.
- Don't use a cyber café or agent with your password and OTP.
FAQ
Why wasn't my PF transferred automatically?
Common reasons: no date of exit for the old job, a name/DOB mismatch, KYC pending, a second UAN, or an old member ID the system didn't match. If all of those look fine, file the transfer yourself.
How do I transfer PF online myself?
Member Portal → Online Services → One Member – One EPF Account (Transfer Request). Select the old member ID and confirm with the Aadhaar OTP.
How do I know the transfer is done?
Track Claim Status shows it as settled, and the passbooks show money leaving the old member ID and arriving in the new one.
Other reasons a transfer gets stuck
- Two UANs: your old PF is on a different UAN
- KYC not complete (Aadhaar, PAN or bank pending)
- Name, date of birth or gender mismatch
- Date of exit not updated for your previous job
- One employer runs its own PF trust (exempted establishment)
- Transfer pending with employer approval
- New member ID not linked yet, or no first deposit
- Transfer claim rejected
- Claim is with EPFO (under process) or settled but not visible
- No new PF account to transfer into yet
Not EPFO. PFFork is an independent free guide from Opti, not affiliated with EPFO or the Government of India. It doesn't ask for or store your UAN, name or any personal data. Rules and portal menus change; always confirm on the EPFO Member Portal. Facts reviewed 5 October 2026.
