PF transfer claim rejected: what the reason means and what to do
EPFO rejected the transfer. The rejection reason almost always points to one record that needs fixing before you refile.

Why it's stuck
- A rejection usually means a record didn't line up: identity details, exit date, KYC or member ID details.
- Refiling without fixing the cause usually gets the same result.
Do this next
- Log in to the EPFO Member Portal → Online Services → Track Claim Status. Open the rejected claim and copy the exact rejection reason.
- Match it to the fix: name/DOB/gender → name/DOB mismatch; date of exit / service details → date of exit; KYC / bank / Aadhaar → KYC pending; member ID / UAN not matching → multiple UANs.
- If the reason mentions details from the previous employer, send that employer the HR message below.
- Fix the record, wait until the portal shows the corrected value, then refile the transfer.
- If the reason is unclear, raise a grievance on EPFiGMS (EPFO's grievance portal, linked from the EPFO website) quoting the claim ID and asking what exactly must be fixed.

Don't
- Don't refile the same claim the same day without fixing the cause.
- Don't switch to a withdrawal claim to get around a rejected transfer. The same mismatch usually blocks withdrawals too.
- Don't trust screenshots or “reason decoders” on social media. Use the exact text on the portal.
FAQ
Why was my PF transfer claim rejected?
Most often: name/DOB/gender mismatch, missing or wrong date of exit, incomplete KYC, or member ID details that don't match. The rejection text on Track Claim Status names it.
Can I reapply after a PF transfer is rejected?
Yes. Fix the cause first, wait until the portal shows the corrected record, then file again.
Where do I complain if the rejection makes no sense?
Raise a grievance on EPFiGMS, EPFO's grievance portal (linked from the EPFO website), with your claim ID and the exact reason text.
Other reasons a transfer gets stuck
- Two UANs: your old PF is on a different UAN
- KYC not complete (Aadhaar, PAN or bank pending)
- Name, date of birth or gender mismatch
- Date of exit not updated for your previous job
- One employer runs its own PF trust (exempted establishment)
- Transfer pending with employer approval
- New member ID not linked yet, or no first deposit
- Everything looks fine, but no automatic transfer started
- Claim is with EPFO (under process) or settled but not visible
- No new PF account to transfer into yet
Not EPFO. PFFork is an independent free guide from Opti, not affiliated with EPFO or the Government of India. It doesn't ask for or store your UAN, name or any personal data. Rules and portal menus change; always confirm on the EPFO Member Portal. Facts reviewed 5 October 2026.
