PF transfer showing “under process” for a long time
Nothing is blocking you on your side. The claim is with EPFO, or it settled and the passbook hasn't caught up.

Why it's stuck
- Once the employer step is done, or skipped, the claim is processed by EPFO offices. Some take longer than others.
- A settled transfer can take a while to show in the passbook for both member IDs.
Do this next
- Log in to the EPFO Member Portal → Online Services → Track Claim Status. Note the claim ID and the last status date.
- If it says settled, check the passbook for both member IDs. You should see the money leave the old one and arrive in the new one.
- If it's still under process, check again after a week. Don't file a duplicate.
- If it hasn't moved for about three weeks, raise a grievance on EPFiGMS (EPFO's grievance portal, linked from the EPFO website) with the claim ID. Keep it to the facts.
- If your current HR has a PF contact, the message below can help them follow up.

Don't
- Don't file a second transfer for the same member ID while one is under process.
- Don't share your claim ID with strangers on social media who offer to “expedite”.
FAQ
How long does a PF transfer take?
It varies by EPFO office. If Track Claim Status hasn't moved in about three weeks, a grievance with the claim ID is reasonable.
Status says settled but my passbook hasn't changed. Why?
Passbook updates can lag. Check both the old and new member IDs. If nothing shows after a couple of weeks, raise a grievance.
Will a grievance speed it up?
It puts the claim in front of the office with a deadline to respond. That's the official way to follow up.
